Jamie K. Stewart, the founding member of Embee Law PLC, is a real estate and business lawyer. Jamie handles transactional and corporate matters as well as litigation. Jamie brings to her transactional and corporate practice a deep understanding of how judges and juries interpret contracts and dissect transactions in the real world when they are tested. She translates this understanding into careful drafting and thoughtful counsel to her clients to avoid disputes and ensure her clients are protected. If litigation becomes necessary, Jamie has actual, extensive jury and bench trial experience. While settlement can often be in her clients’ best interest, Jamie’s trial experience and readiness make clear to opposing counsel and opposing parties that settlement discussions are not made as attempts to avoid a trial.

 

Jamie’s practice runs the gamut of real estate and business matters. She handles all types of real estate issues, including deed restrictions, title defects, easements and adverse possession, riparian issues, construction, trespass/nuisance, zoning and land use, short term rentals, and landlord/tenant matters.  Her corporate experience includes entity formation, buy/sell agreements, shareholder disputes, business torts, employment matters, enforcement of and defense against non-competes, and other contractual issues. If it relates to property or business, Jamie does it.

 

Jamie is also a certified mediator, serving as a mediator and arbitrator in real estate and business matters. Her training and experience in dispute resolution helps her identify creative solutions to what at first look like impenetrable differences.

 

Jamie began her career as a pure litigator, working for a nationally recognized law firm litigating cases for large corporations and manufacturers in highly publicized cases.  Jamie learned in her early litigation experience that so many of her clients could have avoided litigation if they would have consulted with an attorney early on.  Her experience allows her to spot issues and guard against the pitfalls that often lead parties into conflict. 

 

Jamie graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Western Michigan University Lee Honors College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.  She attended Wayne State University Law School, where she participated on the Moot Court team.  She is a member of the Michigan State Bar, Real Property Law Section.  In her free time, Jamie enjoys spending time with her family on the lake.
